@Muslim on Substack Coming Soon
In response to continued censorship by countries and platforms, we are committed to building our newsletter to keep people informed.
I received hundreds of messages, emails and comments from Canadians yesterday around 12PM EST, that they could not access our account. This block coincided with the publication of our post about the Iranian missiles hitting Israel.
Canada has laws that censor news on Instagram, and Meta placed our account under those same restrictions, although our platform isn’t exclusively focused on news.
was created with the objective of building community, informing others about our faith, and sharing content in real time that affects our ummah.I have reason to believe this was targeted censorship during such a crucial time in history.
Our @MuslimNews account wasn’t affected by the restriction, but
was, as the platform has more community engagement and plays a pivotal role in keeping the Muslim community informed.In a time when Western and legacy media publications continue to fail the Muslim community with harmful coverage and narratives, restricting access to information is detrimental.
To avoid continued censorship on social media platforms, Muslim is committing to build our weekly newsletter so our audience from all over the world can stay informed always.
When platforms and countries try to silence media, it tells us that we are doing our job in holding those in power accountable.
We will continue to document the truth and stand out firmly for justice, as commanded to us by Allah (SWT).
You can support our independent media publication by subscribing to our Substack.
