May 22, 2020 – Two men have been  arrested for the murder of teenager Aya Hachem. Feroz Suleman, 39 and Abubakir Satia, 31, have been charged with murder and attempted murder. They are expected to appear at Magistrates’ Court on Saturday May 23.

The 19-year-old law student was shot dead in an alleged drive-by shooting in broad daylight last Sunday on her way to do grocery shopping in Blackburn, UK. Hachem died from a gunshot wound to the chest.

It’s reported that two shots were fired from a passing vehicle; the first hit a nearby building while the second hit and killed Aya. Lancashire police do not believe Aya was the intended target of the attack.

The charge for murder was for Hachem’s death and the attempted murder charge for the man police believe was the intended target.

Eight other men and two women from Blackburn remain held in custody, in connection with Aya Hachem’s death.

Detective Superintendent Andy Cribbin has said: “While we have now charged people in connection with Aya’s murder our enquiries are very much on-going.”

“I would like to thank those who have come forward to assist with our investigation so far and to continue to encourage people to come and speak to us if they have information.”

Anybody in the UK with information is asked to get in touch on 101, quoting log number 0412 of May 18th, or anonymously via independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 (crimestoppers-uk.org/).
